In September we approved the appointment of Todd Lassanske as a citizen member of the Workforce Development Board of South-Central Wisconsin.
We voted 29-2 to approve a property maintenance agreement with The City of Baraboo for the UW-Platteville Baraboo Sauk County campus. Some of the things that stand out to me are as follows. The county will provide most of the standard services with regard to maintaining the facilities. While the city receives fees for short term rentals, any fees above expenses incurred with be forwarded to the county. Any income in excess of the county’s expenses at the end of the year will be forwarded to the Campus Commission’s capital improvement fund. The city is required to provide short term staff assistance if county “flex time” is not available or if it would trigger overtime for the county. This would include opening and closing of buildings, and any required supervision. Supervisors Lombard and Pepper opposed this resolution.
The board voted unanimously to authorize participation in the County Conservation Aids Grant program.
The board voted unanimously to adopt the Hemlock County Park Master Plan as an appendix to the Sauk County Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan.
The Board voted unanimously to enter into an agreement with The Department of Natural Resources allowing Sauk County to design and construct the Great Sauk State Trail at Devil’s Lake State Park.
The board voted unanimously to approve a request to apply for the Cooperative County and Ho-Chunk Nation Law Enforcement Program for tribal trust lands within Sauk County. This is an annual renewal.
The Board voted unanimously to approve the County aid for bridge construction. Municipalities are authorized to petition the County for bridge and culvert replacement costs. Each request must meet certain requirements. The Board authorizes the County to pay a share of these costs.
And finally, the board approved an ordinance that related to county highway access. This is an overdue change that was brought about by the highway 12 shift. This shift changed the now old highway 12 to become County Trunk Highway BD.
As always, any opinions expressed here are my opinions and do not represent the Sauk County Board.
