The board voted 30-0 to designate the Sauk County Sheriff’s Dispatch as the county’s public safety answering point. This decision aligns with the 2019 Wisconsin Act 26, which requires one answering point per county to qualify for grants. This is the exciting stuff we do at the county level.

A resolution was approved to participate in the Public Safety Answering Point Grant Program. Funding through the general fund balance was authorized, not to exceed $154,824, with the expectation of being reimbursed $139,341 from the state.

The board voted 28-2 to rezone a plot in Sumpter from agriculture to recreational zoning for Otter Creek Barn LLC. This follows previous amendments from the monastery owners on Old Bluff Trail and Yanke Drive. These changes were gradually implemented, expanding facilities that serve food and alcohol near residential plots. While new homes are needed, proximity to late-night party venues could cause future issues. Addressing these concerns now is the appropriate time.

The board voted 29-1 to amend an ordinance relating to private onsite wastewater treatment systems. The proposed amendment would affect all unsewered properties in Sauk County.

The board voted 27-3 on a resolution to support increasing funding for County Conservation staffing. We are encouraging the state legislature to strengthen the program by increasing the funding by $11,035,900 on an annual basis to a total of $20.2 million.

The board voted 30-0 to designate the week of April 21st through April 25th as Workzone Safety Awareness Week in Sauk County. This means you. Slow down when you are in a work zone.

And finally, the board voted 30-0 to create a new campus Custodian position for the Building Services Department. This will be for maintaining the UW Baraboo-Sauk County Campus. The estimated cost for 2025 is $50,400.

As always, any opinions expressed here are my opinions and do not represent the Sauk County Board.
