April was local election month. This election saw 10 races that were contested, including write in campaigns, and many uncontested races. This resulted in 12 new members on the Sauk County Board of Supervisors. 4 new supervisors ran in uncontested races. This is a fairly large turnover. The new supervisors are Brock Pelton, Palmer Schroeder, Jim Clift, Michael Leuth, Bobby Hanson, Jeff Sederstrom, Bernadette Greenwood, Jeff Nachreiner, Ray Ring, Susie Tatone, Joel Chrisler, and Andy Arntsen.
Being the organizational meeting for this term, the board elected a Chair, Vice-Chair and 2nd Vice-Chair. Tim McCumber was elected Chair 16-15. John Deitrich was elected Vice-Chair. Gaile Burchill was elected 2nd Vice-Chair.
We honored several of the Supervisors that left the board, including Lynn Eberl, Shaun Harris, Bryant Hazard, William Stehling, and Valerie McAuliffe.
The Board voted 21 -10 to postpone the new rules of the board to give the new supervisors a chance to review them.
The board voted 31-0 to name Finger Publishing (Independent Star News) as the official Sauk County Newspaper.
The board voted 31-0 to authorize the Sauk County Land Information/GIS to participate in the NG9-1-1 grant program. Aka, Nex Gen 9-1-1. The grant is $81,580 over the period of April 1st, 2026, to March 31st, 2027.
