Aug 26 – 765Line

Lately there has been a lot of talk about the proposed 765 transmission line.  There does not seem to be an appetite for it on the county board. There also does not appear to be any concrete action the board can take to stop it. However, we are working on an impact statement. The decision by the Public Service Commission is big. This seems to me the natural conclusion to years of deregulation. The transmission company can do what they want. Local governments have no say.

This month’s meeting had a presentation on Sauk County medical plan history and plan options. Things are getting expensive.

The board approved the appointment of Wally Czupynko to District 1 Supervisor. Jake Roxen recently resigned from his position.

The board voted to approve the purchase of a vehicle for the ADRC Transportation Program. This is to replace a van that is 7 years old with 158,000 miles on it. The Department of Transportation standard for useful life of a vehicle is 4 years or 100,000 miles. $61,118 will come from the ADRC’s DOT trust fund and $9,311 will come from carryforward funds. There is no impact on tax levy.

The board voted to accept a parting donation of $19,830.61 from John Paul Mueller for Hemlock Park. John was a long-time resident of La Valle and a fan of Hemlock Park. Thank you, John!

As always, any opinions expressed here are my opinions and do not represent the Sauk County Board.
