The Board commended Matt Stieve for 29 years of service. He retired as Parks and Recreation Manager. He was considered instrumental in making White Mound County Park what it is today. Congratulations Matt.
The Board voted to appoint the following people:
Corey Nugent as the Health Care Center Administrator.
Bradley Walsh citizen member to Families Come First/Community Services Coordinating Committee.
Clarissa Funmaker to Health and Human Services Committee.
Cindy Bodendein to Health Care Center Board of Trustees.
The board voted 29-1 to amend an ordinance as it relates to the keeping of certain animals. The Sauk County Health Department claims it does not have the expertise or resources to enforce regulations on wild animals, including poisonous or venomous reptiles, insects, snakes, crocodiles, spiders, apes, baboons, cheetahs, coyotes, elephants, hippos, hyenas, leopards, lions, monkeys, pumas, sharks, tigers and bears. And others. This leaves vacant any process at the county level to get approval for these animals. The cities and towns can now have their own approval process. There are still regulations at the state level regarding importing of such animals. Any nuisance complaints are still handled as before. This seems to be area where the decreases in shared revenue result in the department being unable to train and enforce such regulations. This will largely be unseen by most people until something happens.
The board voted 30-0 to approve the Public Engagement plan for Sauk County.
The board voted 27-1 with 2 abstentions to approve an ordinance amendment regarding the use of ATV’s and UTV’s. The ordinance change removes any time restriction for use of vehicles. The old ordinance only allowed use of these vehicles between one half hour before sunrise to one half hour after sunset.
As always, any opinions expressed here are my opinions and do not represent the Sauk County Board.
