In June the Board passed a resolution that requests the State of Wisconsin to develop a grant program to assist in retooling 2-year campuses. This is done because of the recent 2-year campuses closing. The grant program could be used for the development of other uses or attracting private entities. This was done with the idea the campus may close and we should plan for the future.
The Board authorized the purchase of a Chevy Trailblazer for use by the Health Department. The previous vehicle was totaled in an accident. The Trailblazer was the lowest bid.
The Board authorized the Land Resources and Environment Committee to enter into a Non-Exclusive, As Needed basis contract with GRAEF for a variety of engineering services required by the LRE Department. This was done with the intent to reduce the time spent issuing requests for bids for civil engineering every time services are required.
The Board authorized the submittal of an application for a grant from the Active Transportation Infrastructure Investment Program to build a segment of the Great Sauk State Trail. Upon acceptance of the grant, we will commit $3,000,000 in matching funds. This is to design and build the trail from Baraboo to Reedsburg.
The Board authorized a two-year extension of the Sauk County Groundwater Trend Data Project. This 5-year program was designed to test well water to understand fluctuations over time and space. This may help inform residents of the risk of nitrate contamination in areas of development and assist the county with future land use planning.
